Economic development agency Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development (ATEED) has been supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) funded projects and local councils to implement the METRO action plan. It has a particular focus on the development of innovation and supporting productivity of firms in the region.
NZTE has awarded Major Regional Initiative funding to:
- help establish a new sound stage in Henderson
- undertake capability and marketing development in the region’s film industry
- develop launching and retrieval facilities for a super-yacht precinct at Hobsonville.

Regional Business Partner network
NZTE and the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI) have created a nationwide network of Regional Business Partners to help businesses access information, funding, training and development services.
These providers may also provide NZTE Capability Development Vouchers to eligible businesses to partially cover the cost of these services.
