Shanghai Expo 2010 employment FAQs

Applications are now closed for all roles at the New Zealand Pavilion, Shanghai Expo 2010.  NZTE is not accepting any late applications.

We will be reviewing applications over the next weeks and will be in contact with candidates throughout November.  We appreciate your patience during this time.

Will I have to pay for my own travel to Shanghai?

No. NZTE will pay for return economy class airfares to Shanghai from any domestic airport in New Zealand.

Will I have to arrange my own travel / medical insurance for the period of time I am working in Shanghai?

No. NZTE will arrange and pay for travel / medical insurance for all staff during the time they are working at the New Zealand Pavilion in Shanghai.

Will I have to arrange my own work visa for Shanghai?

No. You will need to supply your passport and NZTE will lodge applications for work visas for the expo and pay the visa costs. All candidates will need to be New Zealand citizens or possess the right to work in New Zealand.

Will I have to pay for my own accommodation in Shanghai?

No. NZTE will provide accommodation for all staff in shared apartments in Shanghai.

Will I be provided with meals?

You will be provided with a meal if you are working in the pavilion over what would normally be a meal time (i.e., morning shift will receive lunch and evening shift will receive dinner). All other meals will be at your own expense.

Will I be provided with transport to and from the expo site?

Generally you will be expected to make your own way to the expo site, probably by local public transport, at your own expense.

Will I be paid for working at the expo, or are these positions on a voluntary basis?

Expo staff will receive a salary and an allowance towards incidental costs of living in Shanghai such as transport and meals.
