Celebrating New Zealand businesses with international ambition
New Zealand businesses operating in international markets help grow our economy and improve living standards for all New Zealanders.
This ‘internationalisation’ of business is about local firms expanding to operate successfully around the world. Such expansion may involve supplying overseas businesses, exporting products and services, or investing offshore in sales presences or joint ventures.
While challenging global economic conditions during the past 18 months have forced change on many New Zealand businesses the need for more of our companies to look at ways to grow their business globally hasn’t altered.
The New Zealand International Business Awards are a prestigious programme and have been designed to reflect new approaches that our businesses are taking to achieve international success.
The awards aren’t just about recognising businesses that have grown their revenues or profits – companies may have spent the past year positioning themselves for future growth, growing their share of a particular market, or increasing their brand profile, for example.
These can all be powerful strategies that contribute to business growth over the long-term.
Ambitious businesses who are determined to succeed internationally should think seriously about entering these awards. Importantly, they’re not just about winning. All entrants get feedback on their international growth strategies, as well as free access to a range of useful business resources and advice provided by our award partners, assessors, and supporters.
Businesses that make it through to the second stage will be invited to workshops where they can benchmark their performance. They are also visited by award assessors. Those companies progressing to the awards as finalists are rewarded with prestige, as well as feedback from the expert judging panel.
We know that business people often struggle to step back from their business to evaluate what they are doing well and what they could do better. The awards are a natural opportunity to do so, then modify the approach as required.
An ability to be nimble is vital for New Zealand businesses that want to stay on top of ever-changing international markets. For ambitious businesses, the possibilities are endless.
For New Zealand, turning these possibilities into probabilities is vital.
Good luck.
