Peter Chrisp
Chief Executive
Peter’s experience spans more than 20 years in the engineering, manufacturing, and pulp and paper industries. He started with the New Zealand Engineers Union as an advocate then moved to Fletcher Challenge Paper, which was later purchased by the Norwegian international Norske Skog.
Peter took on roles in human resources, operations, logistics and supply chain before becoming the general manager of the pulp and paper mills in Kawerau. He then moved to the headquarters in Oslo to take up a global role as Senior Vice President Business Improvement, covering business in South America, Asia, Middle East, Europe, before finally taking on a role as Regional President Australasia based in Sydney.
Peter holds a Master of Social Sciences from Massey University and has undertaken additional study in law, marketing, management, accounting and finance at universities in New Zealand, Australia, the United Kingdom and Europe. He has held several board roles, including the New Zealand Qualifications Authority and the Australian Pulp and Paper Innovation Council.

Peter Bull
Director, Projects
Peter leads NZTE’s work on projects that include Rugby World Cup and the organisation’s response to the Christchurch earthquake.
Peter has had an extensive career in the food and horticultural industries in New Zealand and overseas, including general management positions with Zespri and ENZA. Since joining NZTE in 2002, he has been Sector Director, Food and Beverage; Regional Director – Americas (based in Los Angeles); Director, Performance Improvement; and Group General Manager, Corporate. He is currently based in Wellington.
Peter has a Master of Business Administration from Auckland University and a Master of Horticultural Science (First Class Honours) from Lincoln University.

Peter Fenton
General Manager, Customers
Peter leads NZTE’s customer management framework, delivering economic development through companies, industries and sectors.
Peter joined NZTE in 2011 and was formerly Chief Executive of Postal Services for New Zealand Post where he provided strategic leadership of the domestic and international Postal Services business. At New Zealand Post he also held roles as General Manager Postal Delivery and Chief Operating Officer, Postal Services. Peter is based in Wellington.
Peter has an LLB from the University of Canterbury, and has attended the Executive Development Programme at the University of Chicago’s Graduate School of Business.

Hans Frauenlob
General Manager, Products and Services
In this role he leads the design and delivery of products and services that help NZTE to build capability and drive company and industry transformation. These products currently include the Better by Design, Beachheads and Lean Business programmes.
Hans has an extensive background in information technology and management. He was NZTE's Director Specialised Manufacturing, Director ICT, and Chief Information Officer for NZTE's predecessor organisation, Trade New Zealand.
Before joing Trade New Zealand in 2002, Hans worked as Principal Consultant with Certus Consulting and for Cardinal Banking Technologies, where he was a project manager for ASB Bank's Internet banking system Fastnet.
He has a Diploma in Systems Analysis/Programming from Honeywell Bull Institute, Toronto, and has attended Queens University Executive Programme in Ontario.
Hans is based in Auckland.

Tim Green
General Manager, International
Tim leads NZTE’s work in international markets. Previously he has been NZTE’s Director China, and Regional Director for Australia/Pacific. Before joining NZTE Tim worked in corporate finance, strategy consulting, change management and international business development. He was also a member of the inaugural management team of the New Zealand Racing Board. Tim is based in Wellington.
Tim holds a BBS (Management) and a post-graduate honours degree in Enterprise Development from Massey University.

Richard Laverty
General Manager, Capital
Richard leads NZTE’s work on Capital, including funding support and investment strategies to grow New Zealand companies and industries, and foreign direct investment.
Richard was previously Director, Creative, Services and ICT; and returned to New Zealand in 2010 after four years as NZTE’s Regional Director, Europe, Middle East and Africa based in Hamburg, Germany, where he was responsible for NZTE’s client engagement and project activities throughout the wider region.
He has 20 years of industry experience spanning engineering, R&D, business development, strategy, and general management, gained during a career within the New Zealand dairy industry. During his time with Fonterra, Richard spent eight years based in Europe, including two years as general manager of the European milk-protein business.
Subsequent New Zealand based roles included corporate strategy and global ingredients marketing management. After leaving Fonterra in April 2004, Richard joined a beverage technology start-up, of which he is a director and shareholder.
Richard holds a Bachelor of Engineering with Honours in Chemical and Process Engineering from Canterbury, and a Postgraduate Diploma in Dairy Science and Technology from Massey University.
Richard is based in Wellington.

Grant McPherson
General Manager, Strategy
Grant, who leads strategy development and manages external relationships for NZTE, has extensive experience assisting New Zealand firms to internationalise and develop relationships with key stakeholders at national and international levels. Previously NZTE’s Group General Manager Business Solutions, and Regional Director for South/Southeast Asia, prior to joining NZTE he was Managing Director of a boutique investment bank focused on high growth New Zealand companies. He has also worked as Vice President of Consulting Services for an international management consulting firm in Southeast Asia.
Grant, who is based in Wellington, is also NZTE’s Deputy Chief Executive.
Grant holds a Bachelor of Commerce and Administration from Victoria University and a Master of Business Administration from Cranfield Institute of Technology in the United Kingdom.

Suzanne Stew
General Manager, Internal Partners
Suzanne will lead delivery of best practice corporate support services and systems for NZTE.
Suzanne was previously General Manager for Channels at TelstraClear, focused on strategic management of the business channel function, meeting growth targets, facilitating improved operational and financial performance, and developing a new on-line sales capability.
She has held other general manager roles at TelstraClear and previously worked for Wrightson, where she was the General Manager for Rural Markets, Information Services and Supply Chain, and for BT (British Telecom) in the United Kingdom.
Suzanne began her career as a product engineer and has a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) Electronic and Microprocessor Engineering from Strathclyde University in Glasgow, and a Master of Business Administration (Distinction) from Imperial College, London.
