The Hawke’s Bay regional economic strategy aims to make the region renowned for its natural and urban environments, with unsurpassed opportunities for business and living. The strategy is driven by four growth themes, of which “Value-Added Agriculture and Food” and “Productivity Building” are particularly relevant for economic development.
The Apple Futures project is a major regional initiative that aims to achieve production of ultra low residue fruit. Projects funded by the Regional Strategy Fund have been focused on creating business models for SMEs, bringing companies together to share innovative ways of bringing design into productivity building.
