Many of the region’s key industries operate across the region in Golden Bay, Tasman Bay, and Marlborough. The Te Tau Ihu Linked Regional Strategy focuses on key growth sectors and identifies regional priorities, including:
- horticulture and wine
- seafood and aquaculture
- aviation and marine engineering
- natural products
- infrastructure (including water and broadband)
- tourism
- workforce development.
NZTE has invested in two Major Regional Initiatives in Marlborough; the Wine Research Centre, and the Omaka Aviation Heritage Centre.

Regional Business Partner network
NZTE and the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI) have created a nationwide network of Regional Business Partners to help businesses access information, funding, training and development services.
These providers may also provide NZTE Capability Development Vouchers to eligible businesses to partially cover the cost of these services.
