Taranaki

Economic Development agency Venture Taranaki has been supported by New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) and local councils to implement the Taranaki regional strategy. The strategy aims to make greater Taranaki internationally competitive by offering a great lifestyle and job opportunities, supported by a strong economy. It has a particular focus on the development of exports from the region. Venture Taranaki also contracts with NZTE to administer the Regional Strategy Fund.

The Taranaki regional strategy is currently being refreshed, which involves consultation with a wide cross section of organisations including Taranaki’s three local authorities, in conjunction with central government and the region’s business, education, farming and voluntary sector interests. Once adopted, the refreshed strategy will identify future projects to deliver on identified development areas.

Regional Business Partner network

NZTE and the Ministry of Science and Innovation (MSI) have created a nationwide network of Regional Business Partners to help businesses access information, funding, training and development services.

These providers may also provide NZTE Capability Development Vouchers to eligible businesses to partially cover the cost of these services.
