Bay of Plenty

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) supports implementation of the Bay of Plenty Regional Economic Development Strategy, which focuses on the development of export, innovation and enterprise for a strong, vibrant regional economy.

The administration agent for the strategy is Priority One, the Western Bay Of Plenty Economic Development Agency. Responsibility for managing the strategy and an associated Governance Group rests with Environment Bay Of Plenty.

Direct support is provided to high growth potential export companies in a variety of sectors by NZTE’s team in Tauranga. Close liaison with allies and business service providers ensures NZTE support reaches emerging businesses.

As part of a trilateral project with the Foundation for Research Science and Technology and the Tertiary Education Commission, NZTE is supporting the establishment of the Titanium Industry Association and a titanium production plant in Tauranga. The Titanium Industry Association aims to develop the technical, intellectual and operational resources needed for a new titanium alloy industry in New Zealand.
