Projects meeting the criteria will be supported through NZTE’s Regional Strategy funding. Timaru District Council contracts with NZTE to manage the Regional Strategy Fund in the Canterbury region.
NZTE supports two Major Regional Initiatives in the Canterbury region; the Geospatial Research Centre and the Wool Industry Network.
The Geospatial Research Centre focuses on geospatial technology research and commercialisation and is a partnership with the University of Canterbury, University of Nottingham and the Canterbury Economic Development Fund.
The Wool Industry Network is a partnership with Meat & Wool New Zealand and industry. It has developed a strategy for the industry that aims to increase the economic returns for strong wool.
