The West Coast Economic Development Strategy 2008 – 2013 was developed using NZTE funding and identifies building capacity and capability, encouraging investment, workforce development, and environmental management as priorities for regional economic development. Development West Coast contracts with NZTE to manage the Regional Strategy Fund to implement certain priority projects.
NZTE awarded Major Regional Initiative funding for the Targeting Tourism initiative that focuses on achieving world-class tourist attractions on the West Coast.
