Land prices rise in Argentina

BUENOS AIRES: Prices for prime agricultural land in the Pampas region of Argentina increased 10 percent in 2010.

In the central area (Colon, Salto, Pergamino and Venado Tuerto), they ranged from US$13,000 to US$15,000 per hectare.

In the area west and centre of Buenos Aires Province, prices ranged from US$8,000 to US$10,000 per hectare.

At US$15,000, prices are similar to those recorded in Illinois, the central production area in the United States.
