BRASILIA: Brazil's infrastructure investments for the 2014 World Cup are tipped to hit US$19.8 billion, Business News Americas reported.
Approximately 68 percent of the investment is reported to be coming from Brazil’s federal government, and will be spent on the modernisation and construction of airports and sea ports, as well as on improvements in urban transport, healthcare and safety of the anticipated 600,000 tourists.
According to Business News Americas, Brazil will also be focussing on improving water supply and wastewater collection and treatment facilities in the host cities.
The World Cup host cities are Rio de Janeiro, São Paulo, Brasilia, Salvador, Belo Horizonte, Cuiabá, Curitiba, Fortaleza, Manaus, Natal, Porto Alegre and Recife.
