First Quench/Thresher’s/Wine Rack closure

LONDON: As anticipated in October, liquor store operator First Quench is in administration and 247 stores will close in November 2009.

The remaining 900 stores continue trading while a buyer is sought.

It is feared that New Zealand wineries may be owed £1 million.

First Quench is refusing to receive shipments so stock is not sucked into the financial administration, but wineries are all now seeking alternative buyers.
