Hamburg: The recreational boating industry in Europe is being heavily impacted by the current economic climate but opportunities still exist for New Zealand companies from the equipment and services sector.
At the moment, the boatbuilding industry is offering few opportunities with demand for boats declining significantly as potential buyers postpone their purchasing decision.
Boat owners are instead choosing to maintain their boats better and to increase resell value. This view was confirmed during a discussion at METS (Marine Equipment Trade Show) with European marine industry associations and equipment distributors.
New Zealand companies from the equipment sector are encouraged to focus on the marine aftermarket channels.
