MANILA: The Energy Development Corporation (EDC) has started to roll out its five-year training program, which includes 15 PhDs, 37 Masters, 51 short courses/specialised training in key areas including enhanced geothermal, district heating, drilling, geology, geophysics, heat pumps and other geothermal related programmes.
Programs will equip staff to be competitive in the above areas and EDC is looking to market services to Indonesia and Chile.
EDC is planning to send staff for PhD and Master programmes at the University of Auckland’s Institute of Earth Science and Engineering (IESE) and Victoria University in February 2011. New Zealand clients GNS Science and Auckland University are both working with EDC for their technology consultancy services and training programmes.
EDC is looking at potential technology partners for their windmill project, while the company has allocated budget and is coordinating with Auckland University on purchasing ICT hardware and software requirements for their geothermal projects
