China: The Heilongjiang Animal Husbandry Bureau from northeast China has signed memoranda of cooperation in Hamilton with two New Zealand companies to buy agritech products from New Zealand.
Heilongjiang provincial government recently released a substantial dairy development plan for 2008 – 2012.
During these five years the central and provincial government will jointly spend over RMB 100 million (around NZ$25 million) in procuring dairy bull semen, dairy embryos and Holstein breeding bulls from overseas.
It will also invest a substantial amount in improving over one million hectares of grassland in Heilongjiang.
Meanwhile, the World Bank’s project management office in Heilongjiang province has published a notice to procure 7,400 dairy heifers from overseas. The eligible source countries include New Zealand, Australia and Uruguay.
The deadline for bid submission is 12 January 2009.
