Hong Kong to increase cargo handling capacity by 50 pc

HONG KONG: In his annual policy address on 13 October, Hong Kong Chief Executive Donald Tsang announced that Hong Kong’s new air cargo terminal would increase the airport’s cargo handling capacity by 50 percent when it opens in early 2013.

More competition in the cargo servicing industry is expected to enhance the airport’s overall competitiveness.

Work on additional aircraft stands, apron facilities and a new passenger concourse will begin in 2011 for completion by mid-2015.
