India’s Hypercity to set up 10 stores by 2011

NEW DELHI: Hypercity Retail India, which operates a chain of hypermarket format retail stores under the ‘HyperCITY’ brand across India, will invest over US$60 million to open 10 stores by 2011.

HyperCity currently has outlets in Hyperabad, two in Mumbai and one in Jaipur, and the expansion plan involves opening one at Amritsar, followed by a new one in Mumbai, Bangalore and Pune.

Over 44,000 products under such categories as fresh food, grocery, home entertainment, electrical appliances, furniture, sports, toys and fashion are stocked at HyperCity, with products are sourced locally and from abroad.
