MEXICO CITY: Mexico’s industrial activity in January recovered to an annual rate of 6.6 percent on the back of continued gains from manufacturing and the automotives sectors, Emid Digest reported.
Manufacturing industries increased at an annual rate of 8.8 percent, construction 8.3 percent, and the generation of electricity, water and gas supplied by pipeline to the final consumer rose 6 percent.
“Major advances in manufacturing occurred in the areas of transportation equipment, machinery and equipment, food industry, computer equipment, communication, measurement and other equipment, electronic components and accessories,” Emid Digest said.
The mining sector however reported a drop of 1.9 percent due to the reversals in the non-oil production sector.
