BANGKOK: New Zealand’s food and beverage exports to Thailand rose by nearly 50 percent year on year, Thai newspaper The Nation reported.
Food and beverage accounted for two-thirds of the total value of New Zealand’s exports to Thailand.
“There is growing demand in Thailand for premium quality food and beverages, and as the Thai public becomes more aware of the healthy qualities of New Zealand food and beverage products, we expect the trend of increased exports to Thailand to continue,” The Nation reported acting New Zealand trade commissioner to Thailand Thanadej Trakul-Yingyong as saying.
According to The Nation, New Zealand’s reputation in the food and services sector, combined with the increased spending power of Thai consumers represented an excellent opportunity for New Zealand producers as well as local distribution partners.
