BERLIN: According to a survey carried out jointly by the Association of German Chambers of Industry and Commerce and the certification agency Trusted Shops, every seventh item bought online is being sent back within the two week regulatory withdrawal period.
The items are often in a damaged condition or cannot be re-sold for hygienic reasons. Eighty percent of the online shop operators taking part in the survey complained about customers abusing the system.
Thirty-five percent of online shop operators said they had increased prices to cover the cost of customers abusing the right of withdrawal.
