STOCKHOLM: In 2010 the sales of organic wines at the Systembolaget alcohol retail monopoly stores increased by 40 percent.
In six years, the offer of organic wine has increased from 27 to 120 products and 59 percent of the consumers have at some stage bought an organic product at Systembolaget.
The trend towards organic is expected to continue and there is a substantial number of public institutions, hotels and companies, which are implementing an organic profile.
Opposed to other product types, organic wines are not much more expensive than other wines.
This is seen to be one of the reasons for the boom.
