Peru GDP growth strong

LIMA: The Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) says Peru’s gross domestic product will grow 2 percent in 2009, outperforming the rest of the world and Latin America.

Proof of Peru’s economic progress is that 3.5 million Peruvians are no longer poor, according to the second report of the country's fulfilment of the United Nations Millennium Development Goals.

Peru news agency ANDINA also reports that negotiations between the European Union and Peru to sign a free trade agreement are very advanced and Spain expects that they will come to an end by mid-2010.
