Pultron Composites marks key milestone in the Middle East

DUBAI: Kiwi firm Pultron Composites marked a key milestone in its drive to serve customers in the Middle East at the recent opening of its factory in the Jebel Ali Free Zone (JAFZ).

Pultron’s purpose built factory in Dubai, which manufactures fibre reinforced plastic (FRP) rebars for reinforcement in construction, was officially opened by New Zealand’s Minister of Trade Tim Groser.

The JAFZ is a free economic zone located in the Jebel Ali area of Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

"This opening marks a key milestone in Pultron's strategy to enable local manufacture of Mateenbar, a cost effective, more durable substitute for steel reinforcement. Our new factory will allow us to effectively serve our customers in the Middle East region," Pultron managing director Jasper Holdsworth said.

Pultrusion technology transforms fibre and specialty resins into reinforced materials with high strength, light weight, corrosive and electrical resistant properties for use in harsh environments where corrosion can dramatically limit the lifespan of steel.

“Pultron Composites is an example of the efficient, practical and innovative construction solutions produced by New Zealand companies,” the Dubaichronicle.com reported New Zealand’s Trade Commissioner in the Middle East Wayne Mikkelsen as saying.

“The opening of the new Pultrusion factory will provide the perfect base for them to take their products to the wider Gulf market, and is also an excellent development for the UAE construction sector as a whole.”
