SANTIAGO: Chilean capital Santiago is Latin America’s best-equipped city for future investment, the Santiago Times reported.
Citing fDi Magazine’s first evaluation of the continent’s reception of foreign direct investments (FDI), the Santiago Times said that the city gained the top spot due to the fact that since 2003, a fifth of the city’s 84 FDI projects involved capital investments of over US$100 million.
The fDi Magazine study judged the ability of Latin American cities in attracting FDI on the following criteria:
- Economic potential
- Human resources
- Cost effectiveness
- Quality of life
- Infrastructure
- Openness to conducting business.
Lima, Peru was awarded second place by fDI Magazine, followed by Monterrey, Mexico.
