MADRID: Spain will cooperate with Norway to launch one of the world’s largest secure communications satellites into orbit in 2014.
The Spanish Minister of Defense, and her Norwegian counterpart, have signed an agreement for the manufacture and launch of a communications satellite.
The project will cost around 300 million euros, and is expected to create over a thousand highly qualified jobs.
The ministers of each country have undersigned a collaboration agreement for the adjudication, launch and operation of the new governmental communications satellite, named Hisnorsat.
Spain will contribute 60 percent of the cost, with Norway making up the remaining 40 percent.
