MADRID: Spanish firm Assignia Infraestructuras has been awarded a contract to set up photovoltaic plants in Basilicata, Italy, according to Spainbusiness.com.
Assignia’s Italian contract is reported to be worth 19 million euros, involving the design, construction and maintenance, for a ten year period, of six 1-megawatt (MW) plants.
Spainbusiness.com said that the project ‘may be subsequently increased with new plants that would total 20 MW.’
Assignia Infraestructuras is part of Spain’s Grupo Essentium consortium, a holding group of companies with diverse interests including construction, infrastructure, energy and real estate development.
According to Grupo’s website, the consortium is already building 12 photovoltaic plants in southern Italy as part of another project.
