HANOI: Total retail sales and service revenue has risen approximately 25.1 percent on-year to VND1282 trillion (NZ$85.9 million) for January – October 2010, according to the General Statistics Office of Vietnam (GSO).
The trade sector also reported a healthy on-year increase of 25.8 percent to VND 1010.9 trillion (NZ$66.9 million) compared to VND905.149 trillion (NZ$67.7 million) in September, equivalent to 79 percent of the country’s sum during the nine-month period.
The hotel and restaurant sector also saw an on-year revenue rise of 21.6 percent to VND 141.2 trillion (NZ$9.5 million) while tourism also increased 32.2 percent to VND13.1 trillion (NZ$ 870k) on-year.
The Ministry of Industry and Trade forecasted retail sales and service revenue in the world’s 13th populous country, with 86.5 million people, will soar 22 percent from a year earlier.
