Poland constitutes a market of over of 38 million people located in the heart of central Europe, sharing borders with both “new” European Union (EU) and “old” EU-15 countries as well as markets to the east including Ukraine, Belarus and Russia.
Poland has pursued a policy of economic liberalisation since 1990 and today stands out as a success story among transition economies.
Trade growth has been robust in the Polish economy. The country conducts around two thirds of its merchandise trade with the countries of the EU, and ranks seventh in trade among the EU nations.
Bilateral trade between Poland and New Zealand totaled just under NZ$30 million dollars in 2009.
