As the continent’s largest country - accounting for 47 percent of South America’s land mass – Brazil is also a burgeoning economy that has weathered the recession better than many other nations.
Livestock production is a core strength, and generated export products valued at US$13 billion in 2007. Last year Brazil was the world’s largest beef exporter, with volume of 2.2 million tonnes carcass equivalent and revenue of US$5.3 billion. These figures represented a 28 percent share of international trade, and exports to more than 170 countries.
Growing global food demand, Brazil’s relatively low land and labour prices, and the absence of extreme weather are factors likely to further fuel the nation’s agribusiness growth.
The lure of emerging opportunities, and demand for technologies that will boost productivity are key reasons for NZTE supporting the New Zealand companies exhibiting at TecnoCarne 2009 in São Paulo 25 – 27 August.
About 650 national and international exhibitors, representing various meat processing sectors, will profile machinery, packaging, refrigeration, ingredients and services to the expected 25,000 visitors.
