A New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) service that gives Kiwi firms access to business opportunities in Australia has generated $104 million worth of deals since 2003.
ProjectLink is an online subscription service that identifies and qualifies public and private projects in the engineering, marine and building and construction industries in Australia. So far, the service has helped 238 subscribers including contractors, consultants, suppliers and manufacturers in New Zealand.
Justin Mercer, NZTE Business Development Manager, who’s based in Sydney, said: “ProjectLink identifies specific sales opportunities leaving the companies free to market their capabilities to prospects.
“These leads are sourced directly from the Australian market by researchers who talk directly with decision-makers in key companies. The seminars will allow the researchers to meet with businesses which will help in tracking down the right opportunities for them.”
Hamilton-based NDA Engineering is a world class fabricator of high precision stainless steel vessels and vats and Australia is a key market accounting for 23% of revenue in 2010/11. The business has subscribed to ProjectLink for over 10 years.
NDA Key Account Manager, Rob Noyce, said: “We can confidently attribute $6-8m in revenue annually to ProjectLink. For a service that costs subscribers $1500 per year the return on investment is obvious.
“The service allows us to search for projects industry by industry. It’s also a good introduction tool, providing contact names and phone numbers to complement our in-market sales trips. ProjectLink sends out a weekly reminder which prompts us to check the system for new projects and/or updates, allowing us to send Expressions of Interest within two to three days.”
