NZTE is working with business organisations and government agencies to ensure support for Canterbury businesses following the recent earthquake.
An interagency group has been formed to coordinate government support for businesses in the region and NZTE’s Director Relationships Leone Evans is based at the Ministry of Economic Development’s Christchurch offices to support this work.
Leone Evans is also NZTE’s representative on the Christchurch Economic Task Group that has been formed under the direction of local business organisations to scope the economic recovery issues for business and resource and implement the recovery action plan.
NZTE’s own Christchurch office is closed until further notice, and other staff are working from home.
All calls to NZTE’s Christchurch office will be diverted to our main reception line for response, but staff are generally contactable on their mobile phones.
Staff are in contact individually with the businesses they are working with to assess their needs, if any.
This will be fed into the wider conversation with local business organisations and government agencies about what assistance we can collectively offer to help Christchurch firms get back in business quickly.
We suggest businesses that were considering visiting Christchurch review and revise their travel plans and avoid all non essential travel in and out of the city.
