New Zealand biotechnology businesses partnering with Australian companies to develop new products, build their intellectual property, evaluate drug leads, or progress drug leads through clinical trials may be eligible for up to $125,000, including GST, from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE).
The project must be aimed at commercialising a product in a market beyond New Zealand and Australia.
New Zealand businesses provide a quarter of the project costs, the Australia New Zealand Biotechnology Partnership Fund (ANZBPF) provides another quarter, while the Australian partner provides the other half.
Eligibility criteria
In addition to the general ANZBPF eligibility criteria, New Zealand applicants must be able to:
- partner with an Australian company and provide evidence of a commercial partnership.
Australian partners:
- need to be a company resident in Australia and registered for tax purposes
- may include public and private companies, and commercialisation
- companies of Australian universities and research institutes, or major organisations such as the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO).
Application process and deadlines
Applications for Market Acceptance Project funding can be made at any time, but are subject to ANZBPF funding availablility each financial year.

How to register for an application form
To apply for an ANZBPF programme, you need to complete our online registration form. To do this, follow the steps below.
- Click the “Register to apply” button on this page.
- Answer the mandatory eligibility questions. If you answer correctly, you will then be taken to a page to complete the online registration form.
- Once you have completed this form, you will be taken to a page to download application documents. Save the documents to your computer.
- Within 24 hours of registering, you will also receive an email confirming your registration. The email will include a link back to the web page where you can download the application document. Please keep this email for future reference.
