New Zealand biotechnology businesses developing trans-Tasman partnerships that aim to open up new opportunities in markets beyond New Zealand and Australia may be eligible for up to $50,000, including GST, from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE).
New Zealand businesses provide half the costs of the project, and the Australia New Zealand Biotechnology Partnership Fund (ANZBPF) provides the other half.
Bio-Market Development funding covers projects such as:
- strategic analysis and due diligence of collaborative opportunities with Australian companies
- strategic analysis of expanding customer bases or building alliances in other markets.
Eligibility criteria
In addition to the general ANZBPF eligibility criteria, the following applies to New Zealand applicants:
- A maximum of two Bio-Market Development grants can be applied for in any financial year, to a total value of $50,000 including GST.
Application process and deadlines
Applications for Bio-Market Development funding can be made at any time, but are subject to ANZBPF funding availability each financial year.

How to register for an application form
To apply for an ANZBPF programme, you need to complete our online registration form. To do this, follow the steps below.
- Click the “Register to apply” button on this page.
- Answer the mandatory eligibility questions. If you answer correctly, you will then be taken to a page to complete the online registration form.
- Once you have completed this form, you will be taken to a page to download application documents. Save the documents to your computer.
- Within 24 hours of registering, you will also receive an email confirming your registration. The email will include a link back to the web page where you can download the application document. Please keep this email for future reference.
