Read answers to some frequently asked questions about the Australia New Zealand Biotechnology Partnership Fund (ANZBPF) below.

The fund is available to New Zealand public and private companies, and commercial entities from within New Zealand tertiary education institutes and Crown Research Institutions (CRIs).
Applicants must be:
- resident in New Zealand and registered for tax purposes
- operating in the biotechnology industry with a clear objective to establish Trans-Tasman partnerships
- targeting commercialisation in a third international market.

Application forms and information about application deadlines are available from the ANZBPF sections of this website.
However, we advise applicants to contact your NZTE account manager, or the ANZBPF contact in Auckland, to discuss any projects before completing an application form.
Recipients of the ANZBPF are required to contribute to the costs of the project being funded. The amount varies depending on the ANZBPF category.
- For People and Skills Development funding the New Zealand company needs to meet at least half of the project costs.
- For Bio-Market Development funding the New Zealand company needs to meet at least half of the project costs.
- For Market Acceptance Projects, the New Zealand company needs to meet at least a quarter of the project costs.
- For Collaborative Projects, the New Zealand company needs to meet at least a quarter of the project costs.
For Market Acceptance Projects, the Australian company or institute needs to meet at least half of the project costs.
For Collaborative Projects
- The Australian company or institute needs to meet at least half of the project costs.
OR
- The Australian company or institute needs to meet at least a quarter of the project costs, and the international company or institute meets the remainder of the project costs.
For People and Skills Development and Bio-Market Development categories, Australian companies do not need to provide any funding.
No. However, Australian or international companies or institutes who are interested in partnering with New Zealand biotechnology companies should contact NZTE, where staff can put them in touch with potential partners that are eligible to apply for the ANZBPF.
