Beca’s Group Chief Executive, Keith Reynolds, reports that winning the Supreme Awards was “an even bigger event than we anticipated. It’s very prestigious and a huge deal for us and for New Zealand.”
Reynolds says that the value of winning could be clearly measured internally, externally and through ties with the government. Within the New Zealand-based global engineering firm, it helped to sharpen up internal processes and share knowledge internally about what Beca does. It encouraged the management team to take a good look at their international growth strategy, and challenged them on it throughout the awards process.
Externally it increased their brand profile and gained significant media attention. Winning prompted corridor conversations drew interest from other companies and business people, and increased recognition in the marketplace.
“It was an opportunity to benchmark Beca against other companies both within the same sector, and cross-sectorally with companies working internationally. The latter in particular was useful, probably because it is a rarer opportunity.”
The Awards also presented valuable opportunities to develop relationships with other companies, which is very important to Beca as it reflects their partnering approach to business.
