Rugby World Cup 2011

More than 60,000 visitors are expected in New Zealand for the Rugby World Cup 2011, boosting demand for our products and services – and offering us the chance to show the world the best of New Zealand business.

New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) will be working with the New Zealand 2011 office and regional partners around the country, particularly in regions where matches are being hosted, to help businesses prepare for and deliver a world class tournament.

Internationally NZTE and other government agencies are working to take advantage of the opportunities offered by the Rugby World Cup, the world’s third largest sporting event (after the Olympics and the Football World Cup).

Rugby related events will raise awareness of New Zealand prior to the cup – with a focus on encouraging key business and trade partners to travel to New Zealand for the tournament and investigate business opportunities.

NZTE is also working with regional and industry partners to showcase New Zealand’s business capability and world class industries such as food and beverage, ICT and creative, during the tournament.
