New Zealanders have a chance to be involved in the biggest world expo in history, with recruitment now open for staff at the New Zealand Pavilion at Shanghai Expo 2010.
New Zealand Trade and Enterprise (NZTE) is currently recruiting a range of positions for the Expo, to be held in Shanghai, China, from 1 May to 31 October 2010.
"This is going to be a once in a life time opportunity to represent New Zealand in what will be an historic event," Phillip Gibson, the New Zealand Commissioner General for the Shanghai 2010 World Expo said today.
"This will be the biggest Expo in world history, with over 70 million visitors expected,” Mr Gibson said. "It will be a unique opportunity for New Zealand to showcase ourselves in China, an economy and market of significant size and importance to us.
"The New Zealand Pavilion is going to be a distinctive one in design and creativity. At the same time, interaction with New Zealand staff will very much be a central part of the experience for visitors.
"From the experience of previous Expos it is often that personal touch that makes the difference. So our staff are going to have a critical role."
A total of 28 staff are presently being sought to cover a range of positions including pavilion attendants, receptionists, an Operations Manager and Relationship Manager, with applications closing 12 October.
Approximately 60 people will be employed at the New Zealand Pavilion when hospitality staff, technicians and performers are included.
