The principal objective of Industry Capability Network (ICN) is to maximise competitive import substitution in the New Zealand and Australian market. This involves working with major purchasers to identify local companies which can meet purchase requirements in the face of competition from imported products. The major focus of this activity is with large projects which provide clear opportunities for import substitution which benefits local industry. A key to this activity is membership of the Australasian network of ICNs which ensures opportunities are co-ordinated within the wider New Zealand and Australian market. For more information visit the ICN website.
Another objective is supporting the Government Purchasing Policy by providing local suppliers with full and fair access to Government purchasing opportunities. This is facilitated through an association with the Government Electronic Tenders Service (GETS) website (www.gets.govt.nz) to advertise tenders.
