How To Apply For Sponsorship

Please take the time to pre-assess your eligibility for sponsorship investment by answering the questions below. If you are unable to answer sections 1 and 2 below you are currently not eligible for NZTE Events funding.

1. Please identify your NZTE sector, regional or investment champion

• This implies that you have had meaningful engagement with a person at NZTE about your event; and 
• This person has indicated that they are prepared to drive this event with the assistance of the NZTE Marketing Group.

2. What NZTE sector, regional or investment strategy will your event assist with?

• What NZTE sector or region does your event focus on? 
• How will your event help NZTE achieve its strategies for this sector or region?

If you are able to answer these questions, please email your answers in a short paragraph to events@nzte.govt.nz.   On receipt of this information, a representative of the NZTE Events Team will contact you to discuss your application further. 

Should you wish to progress an application for sponsorship investment, you will be required to complete a comprehensive NZTE sponsorship application.

PLEASE NOTE THAT IN ORDER FOR ASSESSMENT TO BE UNDERTAKEN, NZTE REQUIRES A COMPLETED APPLICATION AT LEAST 12 MONTHS PRIOR TO THE EVENT DATE.

If you cannot complete the questions above

If you are unable to answer these questions, you may wish to:

• Download an appropriate strategy
  • Sector Strategy 
  • Regional Economic Development Strategy
  • Investment strategy (from the Investment New Zealand web site)
• Discuss your events synergies with a sector, regional or investment representative. To do this you should call NZTE on 0800 555 888 to be connected with an appropriate person.
• Consider alternative funding opportunities
  • Ministry of Economic Development (small business funding)
  • Ministry of Tourism
  • Sport and Recreation New Zealand

Ineligibility

Applications will be deemed ineligible if they are:

• Inconsistent with New Zealand’s laws and regulations
• For requests of more than 50 percent of the event’s total cost
• Received from other Government departments, agencies or public entities
• For the purpose of purchasing NZTE services

If it is a compelling case or a whole of government initiative, some flexibility is possible.  Please contact the Events Manager to discuss.
