Australia New Zealand Biotechnology Partnership Fund

The Australia New Zealand Biotechnology Partnership Fund (ANZBPF) is now open again for applications for 2008-2009.

The ANZBPF is administered by NZTE and is designed to facilitate and accelerate trans-Tasman biotechnology industry collaboration.

Total grant funding of NZ$4.5million (including GST) is available in 2008-2009.

There are four grant categories for which funding is available under the ANZBPF:

  • Collaborative Trans-Tasman Projects (DOC, 221KB)
    (NZ$125,000 - NZ$2 million including GST per grant)
    This is a competitive category with an application deadline.
    Applications for $500,000-$2m are subject to a two-stage assessment.
    Applications for $125,000-$500,000 are subject to a one-stage assessment.
  • Market Acceptance Projects (DOC, 122KB)
    (NZ$50,000 - NZ$125,000 including GST per grant)
    This is a competitive category with an application deadline.
    Applications for $50,000-$125,000 are subject to a one-stage assessment.
  • Biotechnology-Market Development (DOC, 114KB)
    (NZ$10,000 - NZ$50,000 including GST)
    This is not a competitive category and applications can be made at any time, subject to funding availability.
  • People and Skills Development (DOC, 103KB)
    (up to NZ$10,000 including GST)
    This is not a competitive category and applications can be made at any time, subject to funding availability.

Collaborative Trans-Tasman Project application deadlines

Applications for the first 2008-2009 competitive round of Collaborative Trans-Tasman Projects closed on 6 June 2008.

NZTE has re-opened 2008-2009 applications for a second competitive round of funding. See the updated timeline (PDF, 50KB).

  • Applications for $500,000-$2 million will close on 07 November 2008 for consideration first in December 2008, followed by a full ANZBPF proposal panel meeting in March 2009. Decisions will be made by May 2009.
  • Applications for $125,000-$500,000 will close on 05 February 2009 for consideration in March 2009 and a final decision in May 2009.
    (Note: Any applications received before 22 September 2008 will be considered in October with a final decision in December 2008).

Market Acceptance Project application timelines

  • Applications for $50,000-$125,000 will close on 05 February 2009, but can be considered at any time.
