Middle East

The Dubai Station Service Package is intended for New Zealand companies and individuals (eg consultants) who require a basic point of presence to be able to develop business leads in the Middle East and Africa region. As part of the Beachheads Global Programme, NZTE has created a highly functional serviced office environment at Dubai Internet City (DIC) to provide customised service packages to New Zealand companies.

Your Dubai Station at the New Zealand Technology Oasis will serve as an efficient point of presence for marketing and technical support.

Facilities and Services

  • Assigned work-station space at the Technology Oasis in a dedicated open space area. All work areas are fitted with carpet.
  • Overhead document storage area for each station.
  • One locker with key.
  • DDI phone with unlimited toll calls within UAE (International calls are chargeable).
  • Wireless hi-speed Internet connection (2mbps shared speed) with Firewall. A laptop computer with Wi-Fi technology is required to access the WLAN facility.
  • Access to the services of a Beachhead Support Specialist based within the facility. Such services included personal assistant type support that is provided free of charge across all service recipients.
  • Unlimited access to state-of-the-art conference room equipped with hi-tech presentation equipment (free of charge). The conference room must be booked in advance.
  • Access to shared services, including colour photocopier, kitchen, and storage (free of charge).
  • Service recipients are able to book the Dubai Station Service for up to one year in advance – fees are payable in advance, fees breakdown is outlined in the next section.
  • NZTE Dubai has agreed with the DIC Management that New Zealand companies do not need legal registration with DIC to conduct business from within the Technology Oasis for periods less than six weeks of operation.
  • All business categories can be licensed to operate in DIC under the general classification: “Regional Marketing Office of an International Company”. Please consult with the Dubai Beachhead Project Manager before applying for a licence.
  • The Dubai Station Package is available for a minimum period of one week and a maximum of one year.
  • Participants will be responsible for individual expenses such as licence fees, long distance telecommunication, and incidentals.
  • Basic assistance from the NZTE Business Development Manager and Dubai Beachhead Project Manager is available to service recipients of the Dubai Station package.

The reduced membership fee is net after deduction of contribution by the NZTE Global Beachheads Programme:

Tokyo

The New Zealand Business Centre (NZBC), Tokyo opened in January 2006, and is conveniently located near Shiba Park on the east side of central Tokyo - a short walk from a variety of public transport.

NZTE has created an office environment at the NZBC Tokyo to house several independent offices of New Zealand companies. One office has been set aside within the NZBC for use by visiting New Zealand companies and organisations. Designed with a distinctive New Zealand theme, the NZBC is an ideal place to showcase your business to Japanese companies. See below for more information and reservation details.

Office Space

Office space in the NZBC is intended for companies already developing business in
the Japanese market. Your office at the New Zealand Business Centre will serve as a point of presence for local marketing, sales and technical support.

What are the benefits?

  • Participants will enter an agreement with NZTE to access the services of the Beachhead Program. The duration of the agreement is two years, subject to NZTE’s lease of the premises.
  • Entitlement to occupy office space at the NZBC. The fully partitioned offices are fitted with telephones, voice/data connections, air conditioning, and carpet.
  • Access to common facilities including self-service reception area, meeting rooms with overhead projector and automatic screen, colour photocopier/scanner, kitchenette, and washrooms.
  • NZTE will contribute up to 50 percent of the total office costs including rent, share of fit out costs NZTE has incurred, etc. This contribution is limited to two years’ costs. Maximums of NZ$25,000 per year for office rent and fit out, and NZ$5,000 for internet connectivity costs apply to NZTE’s contribution.
  • Participants will be responsible for individual expenses such as individual office furniture, computer hardware and software, telecommunication charges, corporate secretariat services, office supplies, etc.

What does it cost?

The monthly Service Fee is attributable to the following costs, after deduction of NZTE's contribution as outlined above.

  • Real estate agent commission amortised over two years.
  • A share of the cost of design, fit out, and décor, completed by NZTE based on individual office size and amortised over two years.
  • Rent of individual office space.
  • A share of the rent for the common space based on individual office size.
  • A share of the cost of furniture and equipment in common areas based on individual office size and amortised over two years.
  • A share of the cost of the main telephone system.
  • All utilities.
  • Cleaning service.

Hot Desk Office

This Hot Desk office is intended for companies already developing business in the Japanese market or newly exploring opportunities, and will serve as a point of presence while visiting Japan for marketing, sales and technical support.

What are the benefits?

The NZBC Hot Desk Office provides a convenient, affordable base for working when in Tokyo. It is an excellent location for inviting customers for meetings, and signals that you are part of a larger New Zealand presence in the market.

What is provided?

The Hot Desk fee includes the following costs.

  • Use of private office with desk and chair, laptop PC, fibre optic internet connection, and telephone.
  • Use of common area facilities including self-service reception, meeting rooms (reservations required) with overhead projector and automatic screen, service area with colour photocopier/fax/scanner, communication space for informal meetings or coffee, and kitchenette.
  • Connection to main telephone system.
  • Internet connectivity costs.
  • Utilities.
  • Office supplies including paper and pens.

Companies will be charged at cost for any toll calls, faxes, or photocopies made. Companies will also be responsible for individual expenses such as corporate secretariat services, etc.

When can I use the Hot Desk?

Hot Desk office hours are 9am to 5pm Monday to Friday, but closed on NZTE Tokyo holidays.

How much does it cost?

Half day NZ$50/half day (AM 9am to 12:30pm, or PM 1:30pm to 5pm)

Full day NZ$100/day (9am to 5pm)

Companies will be charged at cost for any toll calls, faxes or photocopies made, and invoicing will be done on a quarterly basis. There is a minimum quarterly charge of NZ$200.

How do I make a reservation?

Provided you are already a registered NZTE client, you can make a booking at any time. Simply email tokyo@nzte.govt.nz with your requested dates and whether you require the Hot Desk for a half day (AM or PM) or full day. NZTE will then email back to confirm your booking.

Participants will enter an agreement with NZTE to access the services of the Hot Desk, the use of which is subject to NZTE’s lease of the premises.
