The 2006 New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Export Award winners were announced at an Awards Ceremony in Auckland on Thursday 30 November.
Seven companies were awarded the accolade of the Exporter of the Year in their sector category. One of those winners – Opus International Consultants – was named the 2006 DHL Supreme Exporter of the Year. The awards were sponsored by DHL.
The winners were selected from 19 New Zealand Trade and Enterprise Export Award Finalists.

Opus International Consultants has come a long way from its parental origins – the Ministry of Works and Development – to become the country’s leading engineering, architecture, planning and property management consultancy, achieving record revenue of $217 million in 2005, of which 20 per cent was derived from exports.

Agritechnology, Life Sciences and Biotechnology Exporter of the Year Comvita Ltd, Bay of Plenty
A natural health and wellness company with a strong heritage in innovating and manufacturing therapeutic apicultural products, Comvita Ltd is on track to propel its annual sales from $31 million in 2005 to $100 million by 2010.

Creative Exporter of the Year phil&teds Most Excellent Buggy Company Ltd, Wellington

It began trading as a flour milling company in Auckland over 100 years ago. Today Healtheries of New Zealand Ltd is a sophisticated national and international marketer of branded consumer health foods and Biolane Green Lipped Mussel extract and colostrum products, achieving export sales of $21.5 million in 2005.

Information, Communications and Technology Exporter of the Year Provenco Group, Auckland
Excellent customer knowledge and expertise in developing smart technology solutions for the retail oil industry has helped Provenco Retail Automation achieve exports sales of $32 million in 2006, up from $1.5 million in 2003.

Specialised Manufacturing Exporter of the YearSkellerup Industries Ltd, Canterbury
An iconic Kiwi brand best known with the New Zealand public for its gumboots, Skellerup Industries Ltd is also a sophisticated international business, manufacturing and marketing technically superior rubber and polymer products, with total sales of $122 million in 2005.
