To allow the appropriate assessment of the sponsorship application and to ensure that leverage opportunities are maximised for NZTE, a decision as to whether an event will receive NZTE sponsorship investment will normally require at least 12 months lead time to allow the appropriate Sector Director to assess alignment to their sector strategy relative to other priority projects.
If you feel that your event may be eligible for sponsorship, there are some formal procedures we need you to follow in order to assess whether your proposed event is eligible.
See How to apply for sponsorship.
NZTE also works with the Inter Agency Event Group's Major Event Economic Development Fund administered by Tourism New Zealand. For events of major national significance, event organisers can consider applying to this fund.
The IAEG evaluates event sponsorship applications on the basis of fit with economic, social and cultural, and international exposure criteria. – for more information see www.majorevents.govt.nz.
From 1 July 2006, the Major Events Fund and the Industry Sector Awards have been integrated with NZTE sector strategies and no longer exist as stand-alone funds.
