David Hsiao

David is the founder of Grand Reserve Co. Ltd., a wine importing and F&B consulting company in Taiwan. Prior to his current position, David was the marketing & brand manager of a leading Bordeaux negociant named Max Bordeaux.

With over ten-years experience in the wine business and in-depth understanding of New Zealand wines, David has successfully developed and distributed over 11 brands in Taiwan, as well as assisted in business matching between wineries from various countries and local importers.

David is involved extensively in the food service sector of the F&B industry, he is the contracted sommelier of some of the finest award winning restaurants in Taipei, such as La Cocotte by Fabien Vergé and RÒU by T-Ham.

A certified sommelier by the Court of Master Sommeliers with WSET Advance certification, David is a regular judge in various wine competitions including Intentional Wine Challenge (UK) and Decanter Asia Wine Awards (HK). He is also an active board member of Taiwan Sommelier Association since 2012.

Raised in New Zealand, David completed his master’s degree in Biochemistry at the University of Auckland, and his master’s degree in International Business at the University of New South Wales, Australia.
