Ken Hong is the former GM of Corporate Strategy for Sina Weibo – one of the largest social media platforms in China (and the world). In that capacity, he helped shaped the strategic directions for the platform. Ken joined Sina in May 2012 as the GM of Commercial Operations, helping Weibo developed into a powerful marketing platform for advertisers and agencies. He played a key role in growing Weibo’s annual revenue from $65 mil USD to over $1.5 billion USD.
Ken Hong recently left Sina Weibo after seven years with the company, and currently is the Chief Growth Officer for Merkle China. In addition, he is a Venture Partner for Galileo Ventures, and a board member/advisor for several companies. He is also a speaker at the London Speaker Bureau.
Ken was formerly the Vice President of Strategy, Analytics and Innovation with Razorfish in Seattle, United States of America. He relocated to China in June 2010 to take up the position of China Managing Director for two top digital agency networks, Razorfish and Digitas, setting the overall strategy and managing day-to-day operations. Ken took an active role in helping clients including Nike, Unilever, L’Oreal, Cartier, and Tourism New Zealand to define their digital strategy and develop innovative marketing programs.
