Dale Murray CBE
Beachheads Advisor Europe
Dale Murray is a technology entrepreneur who advises companies looking to grow and internationalise. As a former CEO who has built and sold tech businesses, she can offer rich insights into what it takes to break into and “make it” in the European tech scene.
A New Zealander, Dale started her career in accounting at Price Waterhouse in Auckland and was a founding member of the management team that launched BellSouth NZ in 1993, now Vodafone. She moved to London over 20 years ago and worked in finance, managing complex organisational change at the global media group Pearson.
Dale went on to co-found mobile pioneer Omega Logic in the UK, a solution provider to the mobile phone networks, which co-launched prepay top-ups. Omega Logic built and hosted software that ran between retailers and all UK mobile phone networks, similar to the way a credit card payment service provider does. Dale was CEO with oversight of all aspects of the business, resulting in gross top-up transactions of £450m in its fifth year of operation. Her experience of shaping very fast-growing companies in the technology space, both at Vodafone NZ and Omega Logic, continues to inform the work she does today in advising tech companies looking to grow and scale their business, particularly in the areas of strategy, leadership and organisational change.
She has invested in start-ups (mainly technology) and was awarded British Angel Investor of the Year in 2011. She has also served in the UK central Government as a Non-Executive Director at the Department for Business, Innovation & Skills and UK Trade & Investment, and served on the Business Taskforce for former British Prime Minister, David Cameron.
Dale was awarded a CBE by HM the Queen in 2013 for services to business, a Fellowship by Chartered Accountants Australia and NZ in 2014 and has an MBA from London Business School. In 2015 she was recognised by Debrett's as one of the '500 Most Influential People in Britain', was named in the 'Maserati 100 Entrepreneurs Who Give Back' and in 2014 in Brummell's '30 Inspirational Women Entrepreneurs'.
She is a Non-Executive Director at Xero, the cloud accounting SaaS pioneer, and at Sussex Place Ventures, the venture capital fund at London Business School.
