With more than four decades in the banking and investment sector, Shusaku brings extensive knowledge and expertise to the Beachheads team.
Based in Tokyo, he is keen to share his knowledge with New Zealand companies and can advise on global investment, finance, and Japanese culture.
Shusaku has worked for many global financial powerhouses, and was instrumental in developing Japan’s syndicated financial market – he was one of the founding members of the Japan Syndication and Loan Trading Association, later serving as chairman of the association.
Since retiring as chairman of KKR Japan, Shusaku has taken up a number of governance roles and can draw on his leadership experience in executive roles and as a director to help New Zealand companies navigate the financial sector in Japan.
Throughout his extensive career he has worked in many parts of the financial sector, and prior to joining KKR he was the managing executive officer in charge of Global Investment Banking Group of Mizuho Corporate Bank, as well as being a member of the bank’s management committee.
Before then, Shusaku was managing director in charge of primary and secondary bond trading, derivatives, structured products, Japanese equity and research at IBJ International PLC in London.
