Tomas Reger is an award winning chef and food consultant who has been based in United Arab Emirates for over seven years.
Originally from the Czech Republic, Tomas has travelled the world to hone his skills after graduating from hospitality management school.
He started his culinary career in London as an apprentice in a Chinese kitchen, where he worked his way up to head chef within a year. It was a tough job, but well worth it as he came to understand the flavours and techniques he still uses today.
Based on the reputation of his work in UK, and his fine dining experience, he started an Asian restaurant in Dubai - Steam Sum Dim Sum - for Dubai Festival City in 2007.
In 2010, Tomas started his own business as a freelance chef and chef consultant - Tomas Reger Food Consultants. TRFC offers bespoke consultancy services, ranging from menu development, kitchen and concept design, to supplier chain and staff training. The company worked on projects in Dubai, Bahrain, Seychelles and Beirut.
In 2013, Tomas was asked to develop the cooking club ‘Bloomie’s Kitchen’ for Bloomingdales, Dubai. He hosted cooking demos with live audiences and organised the themes and guest chefs for the bi-weekly events. Thanks to its popularity, Bloomie’s Kitchen is now in its third season.
Tomas regularly contributes to magazines with recipes and views on current food trends, as well as being invited to participate on discussion panels for hospitality conferences.
He has an extensive network within the hospitality industry, and was also nominated by PRO Chef magazine and his peers as Innovation Chef 2014.
