Trade Commissioner, Sydney, Australia

I was Managing Director of Lenovo United Kingdom and Ireland when I first encountered NZTE. I knew nothing about the organisation and was quickly convinced of its relevance and value to business. At first, my involvement was as a Beachheads advisor, leveraging my experience and insights to assist New Zealand companies launching or trading in the United Kingdom. When I moved back to Australia, I continued my association eventually taking on the newly established Trade Commissioner role in early 2016.

The AusPac team work alongside many innovative Kiwi companies with great products and solutions. We assist them with the development of their business strategies through to execution and embedding in the market. I love the interaction with them, and they find it advantageous to hear from someone who has faced the same situations and challenges. Having a proven track record leading global businesses in different markets gives me experience and insights that are very relevant to Kiwi companies.

The other key dimension of my work I find rewarding is the talented team here in the office. We are passionate and driven by our mission. After a long corporate career, it is gratifying that the bottom line is the success of our customers and the economic impact for New Zealand.
